Video of us on BBC1 London News

Many of you will have already seen the report on BBC London News on Tuesday which featured me and Archie cooking muffins in our kitchen, talking about how we cook and our experiences with “baby led weaning”, followed by Gill Rapley’s excellent interview afterwards.

Here is a recording of the report for those of you who could not see it.

Many thanks to BBC London for coming to film us and for doing an extended feature with Gill too. We had such fun watching the footage – and even more fun filming it. This video is, of course, fully copyrighted to the BBC.

We love BLW in our house too…interesting they got 'many' positive emails and 'one negative' and he read out the negative one!!! typical

Thanks for posting this. We started at 7 months after trying and failing with purees and we all love it. To see Charlie eating exactly the same as us, in the same format, is an experience I still can't get enough of. I firmly believe that BLW has helped his babbling development, a theory backed up by my sister who is a speech and language therapist. I too hope people who saw this were encouraged by it and more people give it a try.

Thanks Kerry. I think you are right to point out that the benefits go beyond simply food and eating. From a developmental and behavioural standpoint, I do believe that doing BLW has been a positive experience for Archie too…

Excellent! It's great to see the video at last because being in Australia I couldn't access the iPlayer video online. Great exposure for BLW!

For those of us not in the London are, thanks. Great report. I've got Jill's book and it makes so much sense. Wish I'd discovered it earlier than when my youngest child was 8 months old!

Glad to see BLW in the news. My son is 25 weeks and we are just starting to wean, but when i tell people about it I just get funny looks and people telling me i´m being ridiculous. I live in Spain now and so they´re quite old fashioned with it, even my son´s paedatrician was having none of it, he wanted me to start weaning at 4 months! Good Job

    Hi Nick
I loved the BBC article and having seen Archi in full flow of BLW I would just like to encourage anyone who is thinking of trying it out give it a go, you will be amazed. I just wished it had been more popular when mine were littel (long time ago now) maybe my daughter would have a much healthy diet. Seeing a baby eating Salmon & Broccoli just to mention a few of Archie’s favourites, is one of the most wonderful things I think I’ve ever seen!! Amazing!!

Hello, it's me SK!! Obviously couldn't watch you on Lorraine this morning, but hope you get a clip from GMTV to be able to post up. Hope it went well! I'm so excited for you. Lots of love xx

Fantastic blog and what a great video! We also have an Archie who is our first to do BLW and so its great to see your Archie doing so fabulously in the kitchen. I am definitely going to try those muffins as a result. Thanks a lot.
