[NEW VIDEO] Archie & me cooking at Real Food Festival (2 book recipes!!)

I was thrilled to be invited to cook at the Real Food Festival at Earls Court on Sunday – and here is the full video of me and Archie cooking two recipes from my new book (which is available for pre-order for only £9.45 by clicking here to Amazon)! We cooked my Mexican Lasagne, which is basically a deliciously easy chilli con carne, layered with flour tortillas instead of lasagne sheets. Possibly my favourite recipe in the book. We also made my “no-cook smoked salmon, lemon, cheese and dill” pasta, part of a whole chapter in the book where the sauces literally require no cooking. You’ll understand that I can’t yet post the full recipes here on the blog but if you watch the video, you’ll soon see how they are made.

As ever, all I can commit to is being there on stage myself. There is no guarantee whatsoever that Archie will want to cook with me on stage. As it so happens, this time round he seemed more than happy to be on stage with me. Indeed, he was with me throughout our whole slot on stage, creating more messy havoc than I fear the lovely Valentina Harris and her extra patient assistant, Sancha, could possibly have imagined was coming their way! Still, Jo and I will always remain vigilant to where Archie is at, and coming on stage with me will always be 100% his own choice.

Sunday also marked a big day as it was the first public airing of my book! I was really proud to have 2 copies standing on the worktop with me – and very excited to be able to give away one copy after my performance. It went to a gorgeous little girl called Elsa, whose mummy, Laura, has since been in touch and told me they are loving the book and loving cooking from it. Indeed, I am hopeful Laura is going to write a guest post about the book in the coming days.

Really, a great day for so many reasons for me and my family, so big thanks to Phillip and Melissa from Real Food for inviting me along for the ride.

Kate from Gower Cottage

And a few big shout outs: Jo and I both fell a little bit in love with Kate from Gower Cottage Brownies. She makes quite possibly the best brownies I have ever eaten. Period. Really I am not just saying that. She sends them out next-day delivery all over the UK too, don’t you know!

Further big thanks to Rob at Orchard Pigs, maker of the delicious Tractor Wheel Pies which made for a lovely meal for all of us when we got home exhausted from the show. Thanks also to Rupert at Womersley Foods, makers of delicious jellies and vinegars for kindly donating some products to my demo, my colleague and friend, Tim Wheeler for patiently filming our slot and Ren Behan for kindly letting me use her photos!

Well done for surviving what must have been a bit stressful being out of your home kitchen AND in front of lots of people 'live'. I'm sure you've inspired lots of people.
