Observer Food Monthly Awards 2011

A quick little post just to say… if you have enjoyed my book and/or blog, would you please consider nominating me in the Observer Food Monthly Awards? They are a very prestigious awards and are, at the moment, just in the public nominations stage. They then whittle down all the public’s nominations before an expert panel chooses the winners. Nominations close this Friday so if you do have a spare moment, I’d really appreciate you taking the time to nominate… You can nominate here. Thanks a...
Lots of great press coverage for the My Daddy Cooks book

Lots of great press coverage for the My Daddy Cooks book

It’s been a really exciting week since the official launch of my book. It has been as high as #195 in the country on Amazon, where it has thirty-six 5 star reviews. There has also been some lovely coverage in the press too. Last Tuesday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Victoria Stewart round from the London Evening Standard. She quickly became Archie’s new best friend (getting herself fully involved in a serious battle in Archie’s “Castle of Doom”) and wrote this lovely piece on us in Thursday’s paper. On Saturday, the Times serialised seven recipes from the book and wrote a piece on me and the book. You can view the article and the recipes online by clicking here. Please note, you will need to be a Times subscriber to view this content. Also on Saturday, Waitrose Weekend magazine asked me all about the tastes of my childhood. You can view the article here. My local paper, the Watford Observer, wrote this great piece – including two recipes from the book. The Telegraph has featured the book – and another recipe! – and nominated it as their book of the week. You can see the article here. Finally, an article has been syndicated across the country to local newspapers. It is written by Sarah O’Meara and she really does capture the whole essence of the adventure and the book in her article – which includes a further 2 recipes! ***If you want to get your hands on the book, it is available here on Amazon, in all Waterstones and most WH...

Join me for half-term pizza-making and lunch at Fire & Stone, London

Here’s an invitation to a little bit of fun… On Tuesday May 31st (half-term week), do you fancy joining me an Archie at the Fire & Stone pizza restaurant in Covent Garden for some pizza-making and lunch-eating fun?? You’ll also get a signed copy of my book too! You’d arrive around half-past ten for tea and coffee and then the kids will all make their own pizza in the Fire & Stone kitchen (chefs hats and aprons will be provided!), before watching it being cooked in their massive wood fire oven for lunch at midday. There will of course be lunch for adults as well! With nearly 25 unique pizzas on the menu, your kids will be spoilt for choice for what they can put on their pizzas! Finish off with a big dollop of dessert and and your signed copy of my book. We should be finished by about 13.00. This is only a small event so places are very limited. If you would like to come, please click here to drop me an email to pizza@mydaddycooks.com. Please let me know in your email how many kids you would like to bring with and their ages. “Winners” will be drawn and notified next Wednesday 25th May. I look forward to seeing some of you...

[VIDEO] So what’s in the My Daddy Cooks book?

I have just finished recording a short video to be published on my book’s Amazon page. It gives a little background about the book, and lots of information about what you can expect to find in it. As you will see, this is not a kids food book, nor is it a kids’ activity book. It’s 100% a cookbook, chock full of great recipes for the whole family to enjoy cooking and eating together. Amazon now have the book in stock, ready for delivery – and it’s available at the somewhat bargainous price of £8.83! Click here to find out...
[NEW VIDEO] Archie & me cooking at Real Food Festival (2 book recipes!!)

[NEW VIDEO] Archie & me cooking at Real Food Festival (2 book recipes!!)

I was thrilled to be invited to cook at the Real Food Festival at Earls Court on Sunday – and here is the full video of me and Archie cooking two recipes from my new book (which is available for pre-order for only £9.45 by clicking here to Amazon)! We cooked my Mexican Lasagne, which is basically a deliciously easy chilli con carne, layered with flour tortillas instead of lasagne sheets. Possibly my favourite recipe in the book. We also made my “no-cook smoked salmon, lemon, cheese and dill” pasta, part of a whole chapter in the book where the sauces literally require no cooking. You’ll understand that I can’t yet post the full recipes here on the blog but if you watch the video, you’ll soon see how they are made. As ever, all I can commit to is being there on stage myself. There is no guarantee whatsoever that Archie will want to cook with me on stage. As it so happens, this time round he seemed more than happy to be on stage with me. Indeed, he was with me throughout our whole slot on stage, creating more messy havoc than I fear the lovely Valentina Harris and her extra patient assistant, Sancha, could possibly have imagined was coming their way! Still, Jo and I will always remain vigilant to where Archie is at, and coming on stage with me will always be 100% his own choice. Sunday also marked a big day as it was the first public airing of my book! I was really proud to have 2 copies standing on the worktop with...
